How To Change Location on Meta – 2023 Tested
Most websites and platforms ask you to share your location so you can use all of their features. But what if you want to change the actual location that Meta can see? You might want to keep your location information a secret or access content that is only available in certain regions from Meta.
There’s a way to trick Meta into thinking you are in a different location than your real one. This is called virtual location spoofing. In this guide, you’ll learn how to change your GPS location on Meta and make it appear as if you are located in a different country or region.
You’ll learn about different tools and ways to do this, like using special networks, add-ons, and even tricking your GPS location.
You’ll also look at the good and bad points of each method. This will help you decide which way is best for you to change location on Meta.
How To Change Your Meta Location
Below you can find step-by-step instructions on how to successfully change your virtual location on Meta in a few simple steps, whether using your PC browser or mobile app.
1. New browser or Reinstall the Meta app.
The first step is to get the portable version of Chrome to make sure that there will be no link between your current region and the new one. Old activity, cookies, location data, location services settings, and browser settings can mess up things quickly; you don’t want that.
If you are on an Android device or iPhone, reinstall the app or your browser, and you can move on to the next step.
If you are on a PC/Laptop, follow the steps below:
Open your current web browser and visit the official website for the portable version of Google Chrome.
Once you are on the PortableApps webpage for Google Chrome Portable, locate and click the “Download” button. This will take you to the download page for the portable version of Chrome.
After downloading, navigate to the folder where the file was saved and double-click on it to start the installation process.
The Portable Chrome installation wizard will appear. Click “Next” to proceed and follow the onscreen instructions.
The portable Chrome browser is now ready, and you can proceed with masking your GPS location from Meta.
2. Disable location settings.
Now let’s disable the option that allows your browser to show your real location on Meta.
PC Users
Launch the portable Chrome browser that you installed.
Click on the three vertical dots in the browser window’s upper-right corner to open the Chrome menu.
Click “Settings” from the menu to open the browser settings.
Scroll down to the “Privacy and Security” section and click “Site settings”.
In the “Site settings” menu, locate and click on “Location” to access the location settings.
Toggle the switch next to “Don’t allow sites to see your location” to the ON position if it is not already enabled. This setting ensures that your browser won’t leak your actual location. Meta will be able to still get your region information by other means, but in the next step, I will show you how to change it to a fake one.
Next, go to Google.com, and on the bottom right side, click on “Settings” and choose “Search Settings”.
Scroll down and look for “Region Settings”. Once you find it, locate your preferred one, click on it, and click “Save”
Move on to the next step, where we will set up everything to change your country on Meta.
Mobile Users (Android / iOS)
If you are on a mobile device, instead of changing your browser settings, you can instead change your phone settings.
To block GPS location tracking on your mobile device, do the following:
iOS Mobile devices.
Android Mobile devices.
3. Changing Your GPS Location & IP Address
To successfully change your Meta region/location/country, it’s mandatory to use a VPN app. This step is inevitable, as Meta requires your IP address to match the country you want to change to.
If you don’t use a VPN, you can’t move forward with spoofing your device’s location from Meta.
I recommend using NordVPN because they have high-quality VPN servers with a huge server network, ensuring that you won’t be flagged and you will successfully spoof your GPS location/country/region on Meta.
You may also find other working VPNs, but NordVPN is one that we tested and it works flawlessly for Meta.
The same thing goes for mobile phone users. Download, install, and open the NordVPN app. Either choose “Quick Connect” to be connected to the nearest and best server for you or choose from the list of servers from different regions and countries.
4. Change your Meta Location Settings
Before you log in and use your Meta account, make sure that NordVPN is running, and connect to the preferred region that you want to change to.
Next, sign in to your account, locate the “Privacy Settings”, and change your “Location/Region/Country” settings to your preferred one and the one that matches the VPN server you previously chose.
Save your settings, and you are good to go. You’ve successfully changed your Meta location.
***NOTE***
If it doesn’t allow you to change your country in the settings, or it doesn’t change automatically after a few tries of login in and out a few times, contact Meta support and let them know that your physical location has changed and you want them to change your account settings.
Wait 24-48 hours until they change your region, and you are good to go.
